About Heroes In Glass

I have already had the pleasure of knowing and doing business with many of you but for those who don’t already know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Robert James. I began my career in emergency services and worked as an ambulance medic and firefighter until I became an LEO in 1979.

I am married to my beautiful wife, Tami, 3rd generation nurse, who is also now retired from having served as an ER, Palliative care and Hospice nurse over the course of 35 years. We are now living our lives in the state of Washington where we are active in the art community and enjoying my days of fishing.

At the beginning of my career, I served with the Daly City Police Department and Concord Police Department. I then returned to my home of Sacramento sty served out the remainder of my LEO 40-year career with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Assignments included custody, CSI, Patrol and Detective. I retired in 2019 with my last 19 years assigned as a field Patrol Sergeant.

The tradition of Police work dates back to five generations with my great-great grandfather being a constable for Kern County Ca. My great grandfather being a police officer in Kern County Ca. and my grandfather being a reserve police officer for the City of San Francisco. My father was a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Sacramento as well, where we both worked together. After his retirement wore his badge as a deputy.

As a Peace Officer, and my own career path I understood the stresses of police work and the life of first responders. I learned of my ability to etch glass and primarily dedicate my talent to the men and women who put their lives on the line daily. In 2000 named my business, “Heroes in Glass” in dedication to those and the families who sacrifice their lives for the shift work, and daily stresses of their loved ones who are protecting and serving their community, as well as honoring those officers to be recognized by their department in retirement, promotions and for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and honored posthumously.
